Backbone Studios Ltd ("we", "us") is an Auckland software studio. We follow the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. This policy covers this website and enquiries you send us.
What we collect
- When you send an enquiry through our contact form or by email: your name, email address, the service you're interested in and anything you write in your message.
- When you visit the site: our web server records technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. We use this to keep the site secure and to stop spam and abuse.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't follow you across other websites and doesn't collect personal information. We don't use advertising cookies, and we don't build profiles of visitors.
How we use it
We use your enquiry to reply to you, discuss your project and prepare a proposal. We won't add you to a mailing list or sell or share your information for marketing.
Who we share it with
- Postmark delivers contact form messages to our inbox. Postmark is based in the United States, so your enquiry is processed there. We rely on Postmark's security and privacy commitments to protect it.
- Our email provider stores the emails we receive and send.
- Cloudflare delivers this website and runs Turnstile, a privacy-friendly check on our contact form that stops automated spam. It looks at technical signals from your browser, not your enquiry.
We only share information with others when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries for as long as we need them to respond and for our business records, then delete them. Server logs are kept only for a short period.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct or delete it. Email info@backbonestudios.co.nz and we'll respond within 20 working days.
If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
